I am actually from his hometown and I know many people who went to school with him (not me, I'm 21 years younger than he is) and have kept in touch. They all seem to say that he is very friendly and kind and usually willing to help someone in need. They will do anything they can to see him when he comes back home. Around here almost everyone "loves" Billy Ray, and are proud to say so.
I know of an instance in which a local girl was killed in an accident and Billy Ray actually payed for her funeral.
