<p dir="auto">I believe it was in the 1997 Independent Spirit Awards where Leigh made a long, long, long speech that got him booed by the audience. His speech was about filmmaking from "A to Z". He listed terms that began with every alphabet (A for art, B for beauty, etc.) and explained briefly on each. As the speech went on seemingly interminably, the audience got increasingly restless. When he finally got to Z, the crowd sarcastically gave a thunderous applause. Anyone remember this "little" incident? Google doesn't return anything! When Leigh was asked about it later, he said, "It's not my fault that there are 26 alphabets in the English language."</p>
