Have been meaning to post this for a year or so. I was having dinner with
a friend in a '50's diner here in the Woodland Hills area of Southern
CA when Marla came in with her teenage daughter and the daughter's friend.
I didn't recognize her as anyone famous at all, but my friend said, "I
know her, but I can't place her." As I excused myself to go to the
men's room, Ms. Maples stood to leave. Since I was passing her, I stopped
and asked who she was, which, in hindsight, was somewhat of a rude
question. She smiled warmly and shook my hand and said "I'm Marla Maples.
What's your name?" She then introduced her daughter. I was really
impressed with how polite and friendly she was. Also, during the meal,
she was very attentive to her daughter and extremely polite to the wait
staff (otherwise, I wouldn't have approached her).
Nice gal.

Someone I know also said they had a very pleasant brief encounter with her at a clothing store in West Palm Beach during her peak in the early/mid 90s! Said she was very warm and smiled a lot

That's nice when celebs do that. Sometimes they let their ego get the better of them. I would've asked her why she didn't have much dialogue in Executive Decision.
