I haven't met him but I'll say this - the easygoing thumbs up Paul of recent years is partially a construct. He is a deep man as the range of his Beatles work and interviews in the 60s attest to but, unlike Lennon and Harrison, he wasn't really made for life outside The Beatles despite some memorable solo work. He walks in a long shadow. A lucrative one but because he got pigeonholed as a relatively 'nice' Beatle, his complexities are rarely allowed to flourish so he's stuck playing Hey Jude to people who might only know 20% of his personality.
