Mary Steenburgen is a wonderful actress. She is an oscar and golden globe winner. She is a little bit quirky and she plays eccentric characters, but that's part of her charm. She's not boring and typical like most actresses. The southern twang in her voice makes her seem more down-to-earth and real. You have to look past the way an actor or actress talks and focus on the performance to judge whether they can act or not.

I think she is wonderful! Rent "I Am Sam" it's a small role but she sells it! She is also telling against type. She does play the neurotic woman a lot but that doesn't mean she can't act. She is a damn fine actor.

She's not the worst, but I don't like her that much. I never liked her in Back to the Future part three, and, probably because of that, I despised Clara Clayton. She's not terrible, but there's something about her that I really don't like.

I agree. She's a great and authentic actress. Another example this is her work in "Cross Creek" and "Romantic Comedy". This movies shows her capacity to diversify.

Mary Steenburgen is a terrific (and adorable!) actress. See "Melvin and Howard" and then see "Philadelphia" to get a feel for her depth and consistently honest performances.

she ,in my humble opinion,is more beautiful and sexy now at 52 years old or so,than she was at 25 in 1978's 'going south',this very hot lady is a complete milfand as for her breathy voice,would you talk trash about maralyn monroe? of course not and thats the way 'mm' talks in all her movies.

I think Mary is great, I don't see anything wrong with her acting. It seems like she's in almost everything. I think she does her job well and she's beautiful, hopefully on the inside as well in real life.

I dissagree with you (Ostrich) to me she is a very good actress, I love her since Philadelfia the voice so gentle and I don't know she irradiate goodness even in that rol (the rival attorney)

Mary is the sole first reason why I loved movies and drama! I was only 7, and when I watched 'Back To The Future' pt III, I was just struck by her - she's a beautiful face and I dunno what it is, but there's something quite timeless about her. Yeah, she does have a distinctive voice, but that's an addition to her character.in real life, I bet you can say you know lots of people with all different ranges of voices.. She's amazing
