Not that this will mean anything to anybody, but I saw
Mr. Smith Goes To Washington
again for the first time in years the other day, and all through the film I was wondering why Jean Arthur's voice sounded so familiar, since I knew I hadn't seen her in anything recently.
Then I realized - her voice (to me, anyway) sounds very much like Mary Steenburgen's. (I had immediately developed a little crush on Mary ever since I saw her in
Time After Time
and then
Melvin and Howard
the next year. I still love her.)
If anyone compares their voices, let me know if they agree with me, or if they think I'm crazy.
Why couldn5b4t I be Governor of Idaho? Kill a few potatoes; whod care?

I just watched it this afternoon and I was thinking the very same thing. So much that I told my son how much she sounds like Mary Steenburgen, even slightly looks like her too. So I totally agree. Obviously I looked on line to see if anything had been written about it.
