Struthers didn't leave "All in the Family" at that point, but her character ended up moving next door into the house the Jefferson's vacated so she and Torres were on the show at the same time.

Yes that would be fun if Jean Stapleton came onto the show:) I just love Babbette and Miss Patty's characters together!

Here's a bit of trivia:
When Sally Struthers (and Rob Reiner)left ALL IN THE FAMILY in 1977, the producers searched to find an actor/actress to play a younger character to spar with 'Archie Bunker' (Caroll O'Connor). Torres got the role and played 'Teresa', a young Hispanic lady who was renting 'Gloria's old bedroom' in the Bunker household. Torres lasted a season (the character never caught on with viewers)and moved on (I believe she was a 'nursing student' in the show, and then moved out).
Jump to 2000, and 'Teresa' is now living in Stars Hollow with 'Gloria' (Sally Struthers playing 'Babbette')and the GILMORE GIRLS. Now if only Jean Stapleton would make a guest appearance

No she hasn't quit the show, I saw her in the preview for next week's epi (2/20/2007) talking to Babbette in Luke's Diner. She's looking a lot thinner!
