I've only really seen him in Dirty Sexy Money and In Treatment and I have to say, he plays an arrogant prick really well. I wonder if he's like that in real life. It seems to come so natural to him.

I've only heard good things about him outside of the movies and television. Even from fans. I do know people who have a hard time telling him apart from his characters. But I would say that he's good at it and he's been typecast.
Sometimes the nicest people can play the biggest jerks. Other times they really are just jerks. For Blair Underwood I say the former. Often times you can't judge by the roles an actor plays and definitely not by only two, particularly television shoes such as those two. Really he's always seemed sweet and personable to me, aside from some of his roles.
Personally he's always been a favorite of mine, since I was little. I suggest you check out some of his more positive roles or some interviews. To think of it on one of the movies, in the dvd extras they mention how nice he really is as opposed to his character. He is a good actor.
I know someone who was surprised to see him smiling in some photos we saw. Just like with the Color Purple, many people had a hard time liking Danny Glover afterwards.
