Has anyone else heard of this? Disney is taking 12-ish year olds and remaking the band. Casale and Mothersbaugh are supervising, so it wont go completely wrong. The kiddos will play all of Devo's hits and two new ones, rumor has it.

All Right!!
ARE WE NOT MEN? WE are DEVO!
It was a non-stop party at the Paramount here in Seattle! You should have seen the people surrounding the Paramount. I was totally happy to witness so many punks, goths, nerds (like me), and all the other ilk that consider themselves DEVO fans. Guys with long beards, fat chicks, fat guys (like me), Goth guys, New Wavers, New Romantics, Middle aged guys with Polo shirts, Families with their teenaged daughters..
I was TOTALLY surprised that they weren't selling ENERGY DOMES!!! I was prepared to spend $30 on one and swore to my co-workers that I would be wearing one on Monday but alas that's just not gonna happen as they had none for sale! A few fans had their Energy Domes from concerts past on their heads. I'm totally jealous!
DEVO performed brilliantly tonight. Some coreography, but mostly Mark shifting from place to place until actually placing himself next to the analogue synth he's used to to play his stuff. As a New Wave synth band guy, I was impressed. Both Bob's kicked ass as guitarists in a VERY good way. (You gotta see the show to understand). Their drummer, who they pleasantly placed to stage left was totally kick a$$!
The best part of it all was being next to DEVO fans. In the bar I shouted: "Are We Not Men?" and yes, got the appropriate response. Back in the auditorium in my 2nd tier seat at the Paramount, I asked the same question: "ARE WE NOT MEN"? And hundreds of people shouted back: "WE ARE DEVO!" I asked again and heard "WE ARE DEVO"! Wow, that was really kick a$$!
GREAT show DEVO! The SONGS are fantastic and will be with me until I die. Thanks for coming to Seattle.
Have a GOOD TIME, ALL THE TIME!

Jeez you guys!
Tonight, I'm going to see the actual Devo perform here in Seattle for the first time. I got into the band when I was um.. Devo 2.0's LEAD SINGER'S age. I loved all their albums up through Shout, and I consider myself a big fan, but could never see a show back then because of my age.
So, this morning I went to a used record store to try to find New Traditionalists which you can't buy online, but instead I found Devo 2.0. OK, being in a used record store so soon tells me something but personally, I absolutely LOVE the CD.
Remember, all the music is done by DEVO themselves. Only the singing on the CD is done by the kids. So, it's basically a DEVO album with different singing. And no, I'm not a guy who focuses on singers in bands, or lyrics either, so I couldn't care less about them changing the lyrics. Loving Devo's music doesn't mean you have to subscribe to their philosophy.
I don't have kids, but I think this CD (and the cool DVD that comes with it) is something I'd buy for/show to my kids if I had them. The sound is better than some of the original's produced 25+ years ago, and it's just a fun record and DVD.
So give 'em a break. Try to think of it as a tribute, and a Devo-produced and supported tribute at that. Give it a try and enjoy it as a great kids album.
OK, time to leave to go to the Paramount to see Devo!!!!!! I can't wait!

When you consider that DEVO's best-known material is from 1980 and before, it seems ridiculous to call them an '80s band. But most people do. I'll never understand that.
As for DEVO 2.0, I see it as part of a DEVO masterplan to dominate the world's media. Fair play to them. I want a DEVO cartoon series!

Devo Was pretty much the greatest 80's band (go ahead, prove me wrong).
But This is just Devo minus their souls.

And you have to remember one of devos most apt phases, 'we must repeat.' I think this is in line with most devo philosophys. But the music just isn't as111c good.

if you had little kids, you would probably do the same thing
but Devo shouldn't have done it. they are too good to need some 12 year old kids singing their songs they don't need help with getting ppl to like their band.

There are two ways we can look at DEVO 2.0 -

It is horrible (which it is) nonsense that further puts DEVO fans to shame.
or

This may stimulate interest in DEVO itself and lead to many rediscoveries of this timeless band amongst the younger generation.
However, I am furious nevertheless that the Spudboys have sold their souls to the evil Disney Corporation.
However, DEVO was a great, classic band.

i agree. Devo was great, and if kids don't like the way that Devo did the songs, then that's their own choice. Devo is a genius band. Kids who are like, 12 can't do it justice.
But I guess if Devo Children (the kids of the members of Devo like Jim Mothersbaugh's kids) like it, then that probably helped Devo make the decision to let them do it
although, i have a strong feeling that Jim's kids are shaking their heads i mean his son doesnt even like hearing devo on cd
whatever.
