I just watched "Come Back To The Five And Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean" on Turner Classic. I saw it for the first time in the early 90's. It's not considered to be one of Altman's best, even though he brought it and the cast from the Broadway production he directed. The movie gave us our first real glimpse of Cher's ability to be a credible actress. But as for me, Sandy Dennis proved once more what an amazing actress she was. She showed us her wide range in "Who's Afraid Of Virginia Wolfe" and her comic side in "The Out Of Towners"loved both! In The Five & Dime, her performance was much more subdued. Her face alone took the viewer inside the mind, heart, and soul of her character. Those eyes, a variety of expressions, and that smile (her smile) was all that was needed for this amazing, heart touching performance Thank you Sandy Dennis!!!

I just watched her in the FUGITIVE. Very talented actress. She's really good in this role & absolutely adorable!

Watch Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf. Sandy won the Oscar for that one. Sorry you didn't like Up The Down Staircase. Ir's one of my favorites but I guess it is a little dated for today's audiences.
