This is an interesting comparison
http://thepassionatemoviegoer.blogspot.com/2008/02/melissa-george-does-sandy-dennis.html
Being a Melissa George fan and therefore having seen a few clips from her new show "In Treatment," I too was startled at the resemblance, mannerism-wise, between Melissa and some mid-career Sandy.
Another of Melissa's early series, the short-lived "ROAR," which starred the late Heath Ledger, also features the actress in a few scenes where I had (watching the complete series on DVD) thought that she acted in an awfully familiar manner.
For your own comparison, this interview
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOmZwAk3kwI
features a short clip from the re-make of 'The Amityville Horror' in which Melissa does indeed seem to be channeling a version of Sandy (perhaps as she was in her early 1970's television film appearances)
