MARTA!!

That sucks she left, she was so beautiful. Patricia just wasn't the same I didn't feel the connection as much there, strangely I felt she connected with GOB better though.
I hear her Voces Inocentes film is great, still I'd prefer to have her stay a little longer on AD. Which definitely would have given her some status, as the buzz on AD boards would be who's hotter Lindsay or Marta? or something to that extent.

Watching Season 1 now and I remember also thinking "Marta used to be much prettier!" Her scenes with Michael were much more believable than Michael's scenes with Marta 2.

Leonor leaved the show because she was filming a movie at the same time, that's the reason she was replaced by Patricia

i think it had to do with leonor being not-so-good (to put it kindly). if you listen to the commentary on the dvd, it sounds like that was the reason. they didn't mention any scheduling conflicts and didn't call her performance terrible, but they definitely said patricia was great and that she replaced varela.

Ahh, so she did leave. I'm just watching Arrested Development for the first time on DVD and thought "Hey, wait a minute Marta looks different she used to be so much cuter" So I was right. Too bad.

I agree, every time I saw second Marta in a scene with Michael going all lovey-dovey around her it just felt awkward, but with Leonor it felt completely justified and she was a great actress.

she said she left to make the film INNOCENT VOICES (originally CASAS DE CARTON), and that she prefers fim work over TV. But this show has received much critical acclaim and has gotten for itself something of a cult following. I think it was a big mistake for her to leave. She'd be part of a minor TV classic, and be seen by a sizable American TV audiance every week. Maybe she needs a new agent!!! God only knows this girl deserves better!!

This was an excellent site. But there has been no activity here since the middle of last December ('04).

Wow. Well that actually makes me feel better. I think she made a fantastic "Marta" and always felt bad about her role going to someone else. Patricia is good too, but the continuity of the role suffered for me, and I have to admit to having a bit of a crush on Leonor. She is a very beautiful woman.
But knowing that she left voluntarily (as opposed to something negative)to pursue her acting career in another direction is actually quite a relief. I hope she is having the best of careers now.

yes, it was a sheduling conflict with Leonors movie "Voces inocentes" aka "casas de carton".
The project means a lot to her, its about the salvadoran civil war.
Patricia Velasquez is a good friend of her - and Leonor said, she really deserves the role.
