If you're referring to West Wing and not Good Times, his character was killed when he wa16d0s sent overseas as a personal favor to the President and either his plane was shot down/bombed or when he arrived his car was bombed. I don't remember the how exactly, I just remember that he was killed off.

I'm assuming you mean Good Times. He was killed in a car accident coming home after finding an out of state job.
