Am I the only one who finds The Darjeeling Limited one of the most underrated films directed by Wes Anderson? I have seen all of his films, I am a huge fan, and the most I laughed was with this one. I found it brilliant with amazing dialogue, visually stunning. Probably not as clever as many of other films of his, but so emotional, passionate and very human.

It's my 3rd fav of his. I love the warm settings & colours, the sharp humour, & of course its emotional undertones, amped by the 3 boys in river scene.
Life Aquatic is my #11 all time, & DL seems to be a nice companion piece to it in its wake. Each are some of the most lively & genuinely lol moments of his catalogue.
my essential 50

The Darjeeling Limited is my most favorite movie of Anderson's. The reasons are mainly personal, it was my first film of his and I really like India to begin with (that's why I watched TDL).
And Anderson must like this film so much that H&M's newest commercial "Come Together" is styled after TDL (and it stars Adrien Brody).
No nukes! No nukes! No nukes!

If I was ranking his films Darjeeling would probably come last, I found it a bit of a grind to get through.

for me, darjeeling IS the most underrated of all the films anderson has directed. it also holds a special place in his filmography for me because out of all his films this is the one i can relate with the most.

DL is my favourite wes anderson film. it is clever & symbolic yet simple & unpretentious.
I would love to see those 3 actors together in another film by wes anderson.
Let's go get a drink & smoke a cigarette

So, I've been reading through the thread for The Darjeeling Limited at criterionforum on and off over the last week. It was started some time before the film came out and captures a lot of controversy from all quarters surrounding the film's release and has been surprisingly entertaining. Amidst all the wackiness and negativity though there have been a handful of insightful posts that have helped me in re-evaluating the film. So it has been growing on me (in my head, at least) and I feel like I might watch it again very soon

I just remember that every little thing seemed to rub me the wrong way. Seeing this post prompted me to watch it again and I honestly can't say what I found so off-putting about it in the first place.
I didn't love it (which is too bad, because why wouldn't I want more Wes Anderson to love?) but I don't hold much ill feeling towards it any longer and remember finding some bits endearing.

Anything in particular you didn't like? Or was it just the whole feel of the movie?
It's my favorite Anderson movie and am always surprised when people say they don't like it, which seems to be the majority. Just curious.

The Darjeeling Unlimited was actually the only film of his that I expressly disliked. Everything else I've either loved or generally felt positive about (except for steve zissou which I'm still just completely middle of the road towards)

I like the scene where they're all shouting at the truck driver while they're trying to start the Porsche and then you see the camera shot where they're standing altogether looking furiously towards the truck driver, above all a wild looking Jack with no shirt under his black coat. They are so united in this camera shot, well, like brothers (I don't know but this particular camera shot looked like inspired from another film).

I agree. The interaction between the three brothers is great. I never really realized it, but the three of them are almost always together in every scene.
Can't stop the signal.
