Indeed - if you check the talk page of the Wikipedia article it seems all this "life companion" business is rubbish (unless someone can provide a reliable source) but some people seem very insistent on trying to get this information into places like Wikipedia and IMDB. It seems he is a persistent target of internet rumours and vandals, which is all a bit sad.

I just read an article online that highlighted a few films from his career. The writer of the article made a slight mention of Tom's homosexuality. To me, that article as well as others which discuss Atkin's sexuality, settles it. He is gay. End of mystery, period.
However, as I wrote previously in this thread a little more than a year ago, it doesn't matter. It has nothing to do with his ability to act and give a great performance in whatever film, television show or play he may appear in.

Tom Atkins is gay. In interviews with James Garner, Garner has talked about Tom Atkins bringing his male lovers on the set of the Rockford Files many times. I guess technically Atkins is bi-sexual. He is open about his sexuality, I guess people are just scared to bring it up.

Well, if he's not gay then he needs to have imdb remove that "longtime companion" reference from his bio, otherwise, people will get the wrong idea.

My understanding, based on reading information off of the Tom Atkins Online fansite is that he's married and has a son living in Pennsylvania.
Aside from that, even if he is gay, that's his business. That has NO affect on his acting or his legacy as a genuinely fine actor.
