As of May, 2011, Ewan is saying in interviews that he's not up for another Long Way motorcycle trip in the near future. Too much time away from his family. Interestingly, he did say he might do road trips with his family in truck, although he didn't say whether they may be filmed. I doubt they would be, unless he's completely changed his attitude on his children being filmed. He also said that Eve hasn't ridden a motorcycle since Long Way Down. Charlie could certainly give even more advice from his By Any Means experiences.

In Long Way Round they drove from Alaska to New York. That covered allot of America.
I am American so maybe that is why it would be boring as hell to watch that series. America is all the same. Granted we have different climates, but the people and places are the same, every city, every town are almost mirror images of themselves.
I think what make there adventures fun is the diversity and hardships they encounter. Which Starbucks or Best Buy to go into really is not a hardship.
Plus you can drive across country easily in a few days.

The Long Way Upthey should start in Buenos Ares, Argentina (South America) and finish somewhere in the Canadian high arctic. Sort of a trip from pole to pole. There are lots of countries in South America they can safely travel through. (avoid Colombia at all costs, as that is where the majority of kidnappings occur) In the Canadian high arctic there would be some great challenging terrain for the bikes to get through. They would have to plan the trip accordingly as the seasons are reversed between the two continents. They would have to travel through South America in the winter months, which would be more pleasant as it wouldn't be as hot, and therefore could travel through the arctic in the summer months. (cause it would be kinda hard biking across the tundra in a kazillion feet of snow. Believe me, I'm Canadian and know snow very well) What do you guys think, would this trip be worthwhile watching?

You're correct. A lot of America is homogenized but there is a whole lot of variety if you look around. I'm sure they could find plenty to put in a short series.
A lot of the problem is that the English (and Europeans) tend to get to see the states through a very Hollywoodized lens. There's a lot more to it than that. To those that hold stereotypes about Americans, let that soak in and try not to be as provincial as what you probably imagine the Americans to be.
It's true the states is overexposed though. Even with the interesting bits, there's not likely to be much that hasn't seen before. The South Americas would be interesting but they're bloody dangerous. Probably doubly or triply so for a famous actor. People are being kidnapped all the time.
I'm currently planning a ride across America in April 2010 with some friends. It's been a "one day" since we were kids. East to West coast across the southern states. Should be good.

The culture is very different in New York City or Chicago than it is in say, Savannah or Miami. Not to mention Berkley compared to Anchorage or Amish country compared to the Deep South. And landscapes - how about Niagara Falls? The Grand Canyon? The Rockies, The Keys, The Badlands, swamps, deltas, hill country?
Yes, there are greedy, fat, and boring people - just like anywhere else, but there are also a lot of great people and places to see. The Long Way series have surely shown us that there are wonderful people everywhere you go.

I heard an interview with Ewan who said when he films in the US he likes to go cross country (USA) on a Harley. That would be a good showdo like Route 66 or something. They could do southern states heading west and come back east across northern states?

Fair enough, They only slightly touched the US in that series. What would be an idea would be to do the Americas top to bottom, but I don't know how feasible(sp?)that would be with certain political situations in South America though.
