The problem with I am Legend is not her acting. It's the script. She appeared too late, and there was not nearly enough screen time to identify with the character.

I haven't really seen that many movies with her in to make a decision. So far she's ok. I don't hate her but I don't think she great either.

Her serial killing of movies continues into 2013 with her last victim being Elysium. She just can't produce the right amount of emotion in scenes where it is needed. Other than her, Elysium was great in my opinion.

Her acting was wooden and bland in The Rite

I can't remember her much in I Am Legend at all. But she's good in Repo Men which we watched just last night. She certainly needs to be in more films & she's pretty hot too

Not judging her from I Am Legend, as I didn't like the movie much, not because of her either. But I've liked her in most other things I've seen her in, and thought she was great in Predators. And I liked her in Redbelt. But I think she really shined in Predators.

I can't understand why she keeps getting reasonably big roles. She's not particularly attractive and she is a terrible actress. Like you say, she is just bland in everything she does and appears like she can't be bothered taking the roles seriously.
I hope I never see another movie ruined by her presence.

Why is it that a character's decisions are automatically the actor's fault?

Only saw her in City of God and I am Legend, but she has this very feminine motherly vibe to her character in both.
But also in both she has displays a bright streak of willful stupidity. When she's making the bacon for Will Smith for example, or when she consoles the protagonist at the beach in City of God. I'm not sure if it's part of the character or part of what she believes femininity to be, but it is definitely disconcerting.
Have no idea what that will translate to in the Predators movie.
