Never was a fan of his, but from all the pieces written on Whitney Houston's troubles over the years, he did not give her any demons that weren't already there.
Her image was squeaky clean before their relationship became public, but that's what it wasan image. Many times it was revealed that those close to her were not surprised she took up with him; only the public was. She could have had much more respectable A-list men if she wanted, but they probably would not have been compatible, unless it was another male A-lister whose image was a closely guarded as hers, but not close to the reality.
She was immensely talented, and I don't like the guy either, but I think blaming him for this tragedy is unfair.

I believe it wasn't him, she was a top fashion model in the 80's during the height of cocaine distribution, there was no way she wasn't exposed to it before her music career started let alone meeting Bobby. Just look at Kate Moss, they tried to pin her drug use on that bad boy rocker she was dating but she probably always was a user to keep b68her waif thin figure.

Bobby didn't start doing narcotics until he met Whitney. she introduced them to him and made him an addict. Whitney has been doing drugs since she was in high school. But you can't really blame Whitney for everything. He made the choice to do the drugs

Eh - I'd still say he was the final straw.
It goes without saying that she was the bigger star. It also goes without saying that the traits and behaviors which grew to dominance as her life and career progressed didn't exactly turn her into Snow White.
I'm not saying he was a Svengali who kept her in thrall. Just that he's trash. And when you marry trash, it's going to knock you down several notches in your life, and it will disrupt your life's path by as much as 180 degrees.
Today's headlines show that he will be
allowed
to attend the funeral. He wasn't
invited
. I doubt that was an oversight, but rather a knowing move by, as you put it "everyone close to Whitney".
If Bobby Brown wasn't as close to the epicenter of the problem as possible without actually
being
the woman's addiction itself, he would've been at the top of the list of those invited to pay their respects.
Of course, if the man weren't as close to the epicenter of the problem without actually
being
the woman's addiction itself, we wouldn't be having this conversation, because, in all likelihood, if she hadn't spent 14 drug-feuled years of marriage with Bobby Brown (who at the
very least
enabled her), Whitney Houston wouldn't be dead at 48.

miller, that scenario does not describe the Whitney-Bobby relationship dynamic at allparticularly glaring in the use of the word "leading". From what we saw on that reality show, WHO was the overbearing one? Uh-huh.
To paraphrase another post I read on Whitney's board, she was the bigger star when they got together. There are numerous anecdotes out there that confirm she was the
Alpha
in that relationship. If you want a relationship where a woman was led astray by her husband, look up LaToya Jackson's marriage.
Look at the song they did together, "Something in Common". The difference was Whitney was much more talented, and cleaned up way better. But she was moving in too-fast circles even before her first album when she was modeling.
The fact that the marriage to BB didn't
help
her does not mean that
he
hurt her. As the OP indicates, her taking up with Bobby simply made public what was already obvious to everyone close to Whitney. They were both bulls in each others' china shops.

Say that a highly talented individual, with certain weaknesses and vulnerabilities in their personal life, were to marry a particularly obnoxious type of loudmouth lowlife who thinks he's a high roller, and who also has an overbearing persona.
It seems highly likely that the more susceptible of the two would almost certainly find their life and behavior corrupted and overrun by the more overbearing partner tons more than they would have if they had never met such an individual.
We can say "not his fault", and know that legally it's true. But ethically? Morally? How does history view people who know they are leading others to their deaths but do nothing to change the course of their behaviors?
It's not to say that she wasn't a mess. Let's just say her china shop was delicate and built on some shaky foundations. But it wasn't laying in ruin until the bull came along.

Yep. You hit it right on the head. He's a loser, sure. But would a NON-loser have chosen him for a husband, I doubt it. Look at Britney Spears & Kevin Federline. She showed what she was made of just by marrying him, he didn't make her that way.
And in both cases, for a brief time the schmuck ended up looking like the more stable one.

I'm sure at some point somebody will write a biography, a legitimate biography, on Whitney Houston and it will probably say that it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows prior to her courtship and marriage to Bobby. You have this feeling she had some issues back in 1985-88 and only marrying someone else with that same mindset would do for her status quo.
I was talking with a friend about Whitney back in 2006 and he told me that she was always ghetto. Don't let the "girl next door" look and photogenic image fool you. East Orange, New Jersey, even among the middle-class, ain't no St. George, Utah.
I know a lot of people want to deny that but it's probably the truth. She was always a troubled individual. I expect a biography similar in vein to the Walter Payton one written by Jeff Pearlman to paint a different picture of the 1985-88 Whitney.
