I saw him on stage in 1976 at the Sydney Opera House. They were putting on a season of American plays for the Bicentennial, and he was playing Stanley in 'A Streetcar Named Desire'. Where Brando whined 'Stellaaa!', HKB roared at the top of his voice 'STELLLAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!'. (And Stella was played by Jacki Weaver, now a two-time Oscar nominee.)

I expected him to have done more film and tv after Mad Max but instead he seems to have been less prolific than expected.
Its that man again!!

The bit in Mad Max where the Toecutter and his gang first ride into town. He then gets his gang to rev their engines and takes his helmet off. What a face! Yes, he is scary and a great screen presence.

I concur. Hugh Keays-Byrne was terrific in both "Stone" and "Mad Max." His portrayal of the Toecutter was genuinely frightening and unforgettable.
Q: What's the biggest room in the world? A: The room for improvement.

Hugh is great. Considering what's "big" these days, I thinks it's better to earn a living practicing your craft and be respected. I saw him in the "Moby Dick" miniseries and he still has a fantastic presence.
I always thought that Hugh looked like a combination of Shane from N1354apalm Death and Buzz from Melvins! Which to me, is a massive compliment!

He was brilliant as the sinister motorcycle gang leader The Toecutter. He looks like David Bowie.
