In 1976 I saw him as Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire at the Sydney Opera House. (They were putting on a season of American plays for the US Bicentennial.) Where Brando whined 'Stellaaaa!', Hugh came in roaring 'STELLLLLLLAAAAAAA!' at the top of his voice. Stella was played by future Oscar nominee Jacki Weaver.
