I loved Tim as Danny on the West Wing. He provided a lot of comic relief, particularly in his season 7 appearances when the show was quite lacking in humor. He was simply awesome though in Studio 60. It wasn't as good of a show as the West Wing and for a show about a comedy show it should have had more light hearted moments, but he always shone. Particularly great was his storyline in The Harriet Dinner where he was attempting to get a group of animals out from under the stage.

I agree totally, he is an amazing actor, and was really key to the chemistry of Studio 60. I think that Studio 60 was better than The West Wing. You have to forget that it is about a comedy show, it is in fact a drama. The casting of all the characters was a perfect mix, and worked as a cohesive whole.

Don't forget The Disaster Show where he got to work with Allison Janney again. Those 2 have amazing chemistry.
