<p dir="auto">It seems that Jack Nance was unconsciously channeling him as the character Pete. Of course Lynch could have given him something else to do. His role on Green Acres was so smarmy and venal. He was a gentle crook. Reptilian, but very funny. In fact I think he could have been great under a number of today's directors: Coen Bros, Terry Zwigoff and Tim Burton. He should have been up there with Dennis Hopper among character actors.</p>
