I never liked The Misfits' politics. They also all seem like meatheads… but they make such fun, cool music.
Though, I always kinda wished some horror punk bands ditched the classic horror theme and went for an 80's slasher motif. That may exist, but I'm unaware of it.

I never owned that album; I only had the M.O.D. one. Some of my friends were huge fans of S.O.D./M.O.D./Billy Milano but I really wasn't all that into them. Nevertheless, I got to see M.O.D. live back in '88 or '89 in Boston. I think they played some S.O.D. tunes. Saw Milano up close and personal (my friend was chatting with him), he was such a short dude, even though he looked HUGE on the record covers.

Makes sense that it'd be a crossover band. You definitely see more of the slasher thing with metal.
Not sure if this song is about the movie, but I always took it to be.
Also, the band Death by Stereo references the line from The Lost Boys.

Crossover thrash band M.O.D. did a song about Freddy Krueger ("Man of Your Dreams") on their debut album USA for M.O.D. (1987). The lead singer was also in S.O.D. (Stormtroopers of Death), an Anthrax side project.
