The recording is alas nearly impossible to find today. It was recorded for Caedmon Records in 1983, for decades the leading record label for spoken word recordings. The real Gertrude Stein actually recorded for Caedmon as well back in 1956, reading a collection of her poetry. The vinyl album was released also as a "book on cassette" at the same time but has never made it on to CD to date. The album by Ms. Stein is much easier to find than the one by Ms. Carroll given it was in print for decades while Caedmon like everyone else was out of the vinyl business by 1990 and I don't think they have released very many new titles on CD in recent decades although some of the old stuff by famous authors reading their own works is now available on CD.

Yes she won the Grammy for Best Spoken Word Recording I believe in 1982 - a major feat considering I believe it was her only record and quite a number of actresses who have made a ton of them (including the great Judith Anderson) were never so honored.
