But something doesn't make sense.
If I take Margo Robby (MR), SS was a hit while Tarzan was a big flop. But Forbes still added their grosses together and put her at #4. That's not fair. Tarzan didn't even make its $.180 mil PB twice at the BO. So the actors and actresses in it were not in a top grossing film. So what gives? MR or any other member of SS should come after Felicity Jones (#9).
Also, why is RDJ at #2? I can understand that both HC and BA are mentioned for BvS, because one is the B and the other is the S in that title. lol But CE should have been the only one for CA:CW. We are talking gross, not who got a big pay check.
BA got #6 because both BvS and

Amy Adams (AA), on the other hand, has BvS plus 2 other films, which are still in theatres.

is a flop while
Arrival
is a success. Unlike MR, BvS and
Arrival
are enough to put AA either before or after BA. However, despite the fact that AA (for some bizarre reason) had a lot of screen time (which was unnecessary/nonsensical) in BvS, she's not one of the leads.
So, AA doesn't belong on this list. I consider GG/WW the female lead in BvS. AA/LL should be the female lead in SM films. Please, keep this very annoying character in SM films!
So this list should have been:

1. Chris Evans
2. Whoever is #3 on the Forbes list
3. Ben Affleck
4. Henry Cavill
5. Ryan Reynolds
6. Felicity Jones
7. Will Smith/Margot Robbie
   All those people are the lead in a top (made the PB at least 3x) grossing film.

I didn't realize there was confusion on this. The article clearly states these actors were in the highest grossing films. It doesn't even say most profitable, just grossing. ScarJo makes the money.
Actually the title of the article is the "The Top-grossing actors of 2016, and it's quite misleading. By default, if you are only listing the actors who starred in the top grossing film, then every actor who co-starred with these actors in the superhero movies they starred in should've been added. I mean, did RDJ star in any other top grosser apart from Captain America? What about Chris Evans? So why not add Tom Holland, Gal Gadot, even Ezra Miller (given he appeared in Suicide Squad, BvS and Fantastic Beasts)?
But despite the title, other factors seemed to have been considered. If you look at the profile, there was some mention about RDJ getting a lot of payback for Captain America. Also, note that Amy Adams, Scarlett Johansson, Ben Affleck, and Margot Robbie's other movies were mentioned in their profiles to help bump them up a list. Why else would Ben Affleck outrank HC when they starred in the same film? Yet, the other movies these actors starred in aren't all big top grossers.
So to me, there seems to be an underlying implication the writers of this list was going for the angle that these actors were the big draw for these movies.
Scarlett was hardly in Hail Caesar! I watched it more because I like the dark humour of the Cohen bros' movies. Any other actress could have played her role (ie Jessica Chastain, Margot Robbie, etc.). She also lent her voice to the snake in The Jungle Book, another top grosser. But I didn't rush to see that movie because of her.

I took this article as saying that these actors were in the highest grossing movies of 2016. It's very misleading in the way that it's written however, still good on Henry. He was in one of the top grossing films of 2016. At least he's in good company IMO.
Also, Ryan Reynolds works. He's done movies that have gotten little to no attention but I see them because he's in them. Henry's just gearing up, that's the rumor, so until then and after?

i was just kind of shocked he'd be on a list like this because the movie wasn't received well with critics and some fans (although i guess it is gaining in popularity a bit because of the director's cut, which i hope does NOT become a thing DC does to prove they can put good content out.)
these lists are kind of weird.. i don't know what their criteria is, because if it was just that they were in these blockbusters.. then yeah Ezra should've been there for the WB projects he was in this year.

Exactly. That's my whole point. It's like saying the state of California is the richest state in the union and listing everyone in the state as high grossing wage earners. When anyone with a modicum of intelligence will know that is not true, especially if you consider that there are many factors to consider. All this article basically states is a box office total for the actors nothing more, and I noticed a common superhero thread in that list, too.

Out of the people in the list, only Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Scarlett Johansson seemed to have done well outside the franchise they're known for.
Even Ryan Reynolds, I thought, hasn't done well outside of Deadpool, but I think he deserved to be in the list given how hard he worked in the background to make Deadpool happen and market it enthusiastically that even people who don't like comic book movies watched it (on Valentine's Day even!)
The Rock isn't included in the list, but not long ago, Forbes listed him as the highest earning actor of the year.
Also, Chris Evans is not number 1 in the list. He tied for the #2 spot with RDJ. Scarlett Johansson is #1 (for movies where she is not even the lead actress Go, girl!)

CBM's make loads of money.. even some of the worst ones (except Max Steel because nobody saw it, it wasn't hardly marketed etc).
the guys on Collider have lamented the i guess fall of the movie star. that there really aren't names that draw people to the movies (except Tom Cruise) and it's more about the characters.. that's a side effect of the comic boom. that people are more willing to go to a Jason Bourne movie or Mission Impossible than a smaller,better movie because it doesn't have established characters.
i'm a bit surprised at Evans being #1 since i thought he only had CA3 out.. or was Snowpiercer out this year?? RDJ i'm not.. Marvel pays him a crap ton of cash for whatever screen time he gives them for Tony Stark. He's basically set for life and never has to work after his deal with the MCU is done.

Of the people in the list, the ones I think truly deserved to be there are Ryan Reynolds, given how hard he worked on getting Deadpool made against all odds (helped along with the Sony hackers), Will Smith and Margot Robbie who helped draw the audience in for Suicide Squad along with the other great cast members. Personally, I think BvS would have drawn the crowd regardless on who was cast (and as shown regardless of how badly it was panned by b68critics). Scarlett Johansson can probably draw in the crowd, but it would be interesting to see if she can draw a crowd if she led a non-franchise/non-sci-fi movie. It would be interesting to see how Ghost in the Shell would do (despite the "whitewashing" controversy/debate it is raising).
