I know this thread ended long ago, but it was said that gay men aren't attracted to the female form. There is the rare occasion when a gay man who is a drag performer will be in a relationship with another drag performer and the two men in women's attire will have sex. It is the exception; not the rule.
Some of the gay, female impersonators from years back, like Craig Russell and Kim Christy, both got married to women and fathered children. It does happen. You are right, it may be rare and an exception, but it does happen.
Craig Russell has since passed, but Kim Christy is still alive and still married.

These days it's commonplace for men to have earrings or wear eyeliner. Male pop stars such as Justin Bieber and Harry Styles reportedly wear women's jeans. Adam Levine has a men's clothing line that looks very similar to women's jeans.
When people ask if someone is gay, they want to know what the politically correct term would be so as to not offend anyone. If we don't ask questions how are we supposed to learn?

I can't decide if I am amused or offended by the comments on this topic.

If someone has the mind/biological appearance of a woman, then their male partner is straight. To suggest that they are not, simply makes it more difficult for transwomen to be honest with people.

If their partner is female, then that partner is a lesbian.

These things are acknowledged in law in the UK.

If a transgender woman has had genital surgery and follow up therapy, then nobody would be able to tell that they were not born that way. There may also be sexual benefits (so, so much for a biologically born female always being the sexually preferred choice)

Depending on the extent of surgery, and other therapies and treatment it can be relatively easy or completely impossible to know if a woman was born with a female body or transitioned.

Not all transwomen are actresses, barmaids, singers etc. The majority are just the woman who works in the travel agents, or the Mum dropping her son at school, or the woman whose body you admire in the gym.
There ARE some people who are attracted to someone specifically because they are pre-op transsexual, or only partly through their transition. If this is their specific taste (regardless of the persons personality) then they will inevitably not be interested when their parb68tner is fully female. Along with 'passing' and social acceptance, this issue, can have consequences for the psychology, choices and actions of trans women.
How these 'partners' wish to identify themselves is personal choice I suppose.

I think it all depends on what about Candis he's attracted to. If it's purely her looks and personality, not gay. If it's the fact that she is a transsexual, he's gay.
Put it like this. If I met a hot woman at a bar, took her home and slept with her, I'm not gay if it later turns out she was born a man. I simply thought I was sleeping with a woman. If I intentionally seek out a transsexual, then I guess that would make me gay, or at least bi.

I take it you are gay. I'm a male-to-female and nearly all of these guys that I've heard of who pursue transsexuals claim they are "straight." A few did tell me they were bisexual, but attracted to fem gays: like those who spend a small part of their life in drag, but live out in society as males.
Something that is rarely brought up in these discussions is that a lot of them who say they are attracted to transsexuals actually have a sexual fantasy about being queens themselves. By that I mean they want to look like a highend call girl or a porn queen, not like the average woman you would see at Wal-Mart. I think that's why they always want transsexuals to be like Candis: exotically beautiful and more feminine than the average female so it makes it easier for them to live out their own fantasies through her. Then you start to understand why most transsexuals don't like them.

As you people said, how can a gay guy be gay, if he is attracted to someone who looks like a wo2000man. I believe it would be way more believable for a woman who is bi-sexual or a gay woman to be attracted to a transsexual female than a gay guy. If a gay guy does like women romantically or is lusting after them (as well as transgender women), then technically he isn't gayor strictly attracted to men. He's bi, so he can't be gay. Generally, gay men are not turned on by someone that has (physical) attributes of a woman or people who look like women This means sexual characteristics, like curvy, feminine breasts and curvy hips or extensive makeup and eyeliner with feminine mannerisms
I'm guessing on everything, but I believe that is how attraction would works. But, I think everyone else is making such a big deal about sexuality, the possible existence of a penis, and Cayne used to be male. Everyone keeps harping on the "God" cardand she was born to be a man, or the way nature made her. It's funny, because some animals often change their sex voluntarily. Due to necessity, breeding purposes, social hierarchy (clown fish, female fish typically lead), or it just happens.
THough, it's mostly slugs, leeches, earthworms, some fish, lizards, a number of insects, and etc. And though, it's not common in mammals, it has been observed in deer, bears, whales, and even humans. Mostly intersex conditions.
5-alpha-reductase deficiency (5alpha-RD-2) or 17-beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase deficiency (17beta-HSD-3)
Idiopathic Partial Sex Reversal
If someone wants to live as the opposite sex, what is wrong with that? I don't see anything up in the sky telling people that should be men or stay women. In reality, nature is far more diverse than that, especially looking at plant life and protists. If someone sex changes voluntary or involuntary, why should it be cause for concern.

queenanime99 said,"I find that many men that are interested in trans women have a fetish for it."
Nice try, but you're clearly ignorant. That is a common misconception. It's akin to saying that a white guy who falls in love with an Asian female has an "Asian fetish."
Hate to break it to you, but many men who marry or date transwomen aren't looking for a transwoman. They just happen to fall in love with that woman. Some men find out that their lover is transgendered after falling in love with them.
A transwoman, while still biologically male, looks female and has the mind of a female. Therefore, it wouldn't be odd for a straight man to fall in love with a transwoman. They are open-minded enough to understand that the person they are in love with just happened to be born in the wrong body.
Also, sex with a transwoman isn't different from sex with a transwoman. If a transwoman had a good surgeon ("bottom surgery" for MTF transsexuals is very good nowadays), a man would not be able to tell he was having sex with a transwoman.
Again, the "no-babies" thing would also apply to biowomen who can't have children and who don't want to have children. Some men do not mind not having
children or adopting.
Love isn't about genetics. Some men do not care that the woman they are in love with has XY chromosomes. Some men even marry and date intersexed women who are genetically male.
Please educate yourself and get over your bitterness. You are sounding mean and you know you are. You are insulting people who are transgendered and people who are love with transgendered people."
trans action said, "I think people get way to caught up in the genetalia thing. Yes it's a big deal, but the fact is - drumroll - Gay men aren't attracted to anything remotely feminine.
I am a transsexual, I have an extensive dating history as both a gay man, and now as a transgendered woman, and I can tell you, men attracted to transexuals are not gay. I don't care what anyone else thinks, because I know the truth. I have plenty of gay friends, and there would have been no shame if any of my boyfriends were attracted to, or had left me for a man - and given they would have every opportunity to be with a man - none have ever shown the slightest interest in men.
This issue means nothing to me personally, because if the men that were attracted to me identified themselves as gay, I wouldn't care. It doesn't matter to me who they see themselves as, but the guys that see me are exclusively attracted to only woman and transsexuals, some prefer women, some prefer transsexuals, but none are into guys.
As I said, I have enough gay friends and am involved in the gay community to know that gay men are not ino transsexuals, I have enough gay friends that i've hit on drunkely to know it's not going to happen. Also when I transitioned I was still dating a gay man, who loved me dearly, but could not stay with me as he was no longer attracted to me.
I'm sure people will still have their belief regardless or try to pick flaws in my argument, but I know the truth, and the fact is, these guys are not gay."
Here's the thing: Candis Cayne looks like a biological woman and she has the mind of a biological woman. Most people would not be able to tell that she was born male. She looks just like a biological female model. This would not make her husband gay. Gay men aren't attracted to women. Candis Cayne looks WAY too feminine for a gay man. Not to mention her female mind would turn gay guys off. Remember, that very feminine gay guys don't identify as women, whereas Candis does.
gay men are attracted to men not trans women. Straight men are attracted to trans women because they are attracted to women.
End of thread, great quotes above.

First of all I want to thank everyone for their opinions here. I found them both interesting and enlighting to a married straight guy like myself. What I liked most of all is there didn't seem to be the usual bashing and name calling associated with the message boards here, especially considering the subject matter.
Not that the opinion of a married straight guy would matter here, but I consider "HER" a woman. I imagine she lived her daily life as a woman even before the SRS. She went even further by having that surgery to remove the parts of her body she didn't consider female. The fact that she can't have biological children wouldn't make her less of a woman. I'm married and we don't have kids, but that doesn't make my wife less of a woman. Had my only intention when getting married was to have kids of my own then it might make a difference but only to me, not to anyone else.
The person who started this thread meant no malice at all which I suppose is why most of the posts are civil in tone even if they don't agree. Their question was does it make her husband gay or bi to be married to a woman who was formerly a man. My answer, with no disrespect meant to the person asking would be a question in return, why does it matter?
Candis is certainly beautiful and sexy, even if you do see a touch of masculine in her features.
