How many now-middle aged men were, as teens, watching the amazing
Monty Python's Flying Circus
, the show that probably had more to do with the development of their sense of humor than any other, and secretly adoring the amazing blonde on the show? She almost made you want to lick the TV screen.
She had EVERYTHING! She was, needless to say, gorgeous, with a beautiful face and a jawdropping body, but on top of that she was
funny
! I mean,
really
funny. Just watch the mattress sketch and focus on Carol, who has only one line at the end she's just brilliant throughout the sketch. Or the flying lessons sketch where she is a prim secretary leading Terry Jones through the woods, over streams, along beaches, to his appointment. (To be honest I preferred her in those prim roles, like the attendant to the peer in the mortuary hour sketch.)
Smart, funny, and gorgeous Carol Cleveland meant a lot to a lot of us in our teen years, and I dare say she still does today. Try as you might, you'll never find a woman quite like her.
