"I may disagree with anything that he's saying and think that his proposals are a little, well more than a little shocking, but there is something really hopeful about the fact that, well 36 percent of the likely voters want him," Colbert said, referencing a recent CNN poll. "So people in the machine don't get to say otherwise. That's the one saving grace of his candidacy."
Colbert added that he respects Trump's ability to appeal to the emotions of his likely supporters, admitting he may have been "wrong" to ever posit Trump had no chances of winning the Republican nomination.
What the f-ck? He respects Trump's ability to appeal to the emotions of his voters? Does Stephen know what the f-ck he is even saying? There is absolutely NOTHING respectable about Trump appealing to his supporters' racism. I'm absolutely disgusted with this and lost a chunk of respect for him.
And then to also say that the only saving grace about Trump's candidacy is that "the people" strongly support it. I can't explain to you how utterly f-cking stupid and repugnant Stephen sounds. He's not an idiot. He knows the stuff that Trump his been saying. He obviously knows that Trump went full on Nazi when he talked about banning Muslims and having them wear some sort of identification. So why would he say something so utterly ridiculous like the quoted portion? Trump's proposals are beyond simply "shocking" or "little shocking" as Stephen put it. It's vile, abhorrent, and a little evil.
I'm incredibly disappointed that Stephen said this. I thought he was better than this. As a result, I've lost a chunk of respect for him. He should frankly be ashamed of saying what he said. I don't care that he means well. It doesn't take away from the fact that his comments are ridiculous beyond belief

He said he quit it because he didn't think people want "constant divisiveness" anymore. Right, okay, except The Colbert Report show wasn't divisive at all. Just because majority of the time, his targets were right wingers doesn't mean the show was divisive. His show satirized, criticized, and demolished ignorance, stupidity, hypocrisy, dishonesty, etc., and it just so happens that people on the right were and still are way more guilty of displaying the aforementioned qualities more, or I should say in a more prominent way than Democrats. The right and the GOP is endless comedy gold. Making fun of that doesn't mean that your show is divisive, partisan, or idealogical. Facts are facts. Reality is reality. Sorry that reality shows that right wingers are totally f-cking crazy and deranged beyond belief. If that's "divisive", then so f-cking be it. Enough with this political correctness and us having to pretend that many Republicans, especially the politicians, aren't f-cking dangerous lunatics
