<p dir="auto">A few years ago there was some programme counting down the 100 greatest something or others. It was on in the UK. For some reason they were talking about Sam Cooke and 'A Change Is Gonna Come'. Someone told a story about how Sam played the song for a friend and the friend told Sam he loved the song but it reminded him of death. This really spooked Sam and after that he rarely played the song live again.<br />
Does anyone know if this story is true? If so, please can you provide a source?<br />
"Congratulations, you're going to go down in history as the man who killed Superman."</p>
