Hello backofthevan,
may I please ask you some questions -
(and, sorry, I'm not a native speaker of English and, further, I'm really shocked at the moment so please excuse my errors in grammar, spelling, etc.):
1 - If it's true that the attempted robbery at Sechelt was not his first contravention against law but only the last one in a long chain of criminal acts - that is to say, that J.C. "went downhill" slowly, step by step, so WHY could things get that bad? In other words, hasn't he got any relatives (husband, parents, perhaps children of his own) or any close friends? Just NO ONE who could have warned him, in time, to stop all these things before he got in REALLY big trouble (i.e. what now happened)??
2 - One of J.C.'s major problems is his (at least temporary) addiction to drugs; do you think he might find the courage to go through an anti-drug-programme if he gets the chance? Or don't you think this could help him? I should say, "fingers crossed" that they won't just let him rot in jail but that there are, at least, SOME things he can take use of, i.e. programmes like the one mentioned (in Germany this is possible, even behind bars, IF the inmate cooperates and behaves well; it may even result in an abridged duration of prison time = release for the remaining term, on probation)
3 - Now what has happened to him since May, do you know anything? I can see from the www. only that the date when he had to appear in court was scheduled for some day in June (I think) and somewhere I think it was stated that the sentence would be announced some day in August or so. But I couldn't find any info what term he, finally, received
Please believe me, Sir, that I didn't ask all these questions just for mere sensationalism; I feel really sad about Joey and wish him all the best!
Let us keep him in our memory for his movies and let us hope that this is not the last thing at all we have heard about him, BUT the last bad thing!
Kind regards

grwlf, I have the misfortune of having known him personally since he was about 12 years old. It is well known among acquaintances and those in the city of vancouver that he got into drugs at a very young age and it has ruined his life. He has been seen in the downtown east side of Vancouver (drug central) begging on the street in a derelict condition. Read the news articles in other threads on this board for info on his past history.
I am not speculating or guessing.

That would certainly explain the writing of bad checks, as well as the attempted robbery, but is there any proof of that? Doesn't seem to be anyone talking about it.
