I just111c have trouble understanding how he doesn't get top notch scripts with top directors. He's not old-looking, is an actor who can completely change for any part, incredibly popular and yet somehow he's stuck doing mediocre films. You watch Hal from Malcolm in the Middle, then Walter White and then Trumbo. You can't believe it's the same person.

he IS old looking, but in a good way… that's what worked for him going from squeaky clean Malcolm to Breaking Bad… he's craggly and it works…
as for why he's not working in movies… well… breaking bad… each episode was a classic movie… television is the new cinema since cinema sucks nowadays… plus he's gone the Clooney route of only doing Left leaning political thrillers, and they're not that good, and don't ask a lot of him as an actor….
