So why is someone like John Davidson not in Hollywood films anymore? Is his absence voluntary, as in semi-retirement? Or is his agent just not sending him top scripts anymore?

"Top Scripts"??? Since when. "Active in Hollywood"??? Sure. In a Hollywood Squares/Love Boat kind of way.
John Davidson was an engaging personality at best, by no means a major Hollywood star.
"the best that you can do is fall in love"

It seem odd, he used to be very active in Hollywood. Then suddenly not. Nothing against him. I just find it strange.

Good that John continues to perform in an avenue which he enjoys, but sad that his fans cannot experience this awesome actor's participation in films and television very much these days.
John always has that refreshing presence, to enhance the quality of everything he does. Hope to see him on television again soon, as many of his great fans also wish him the very best.
