Official medical definition is anybody whose adult height is 4'10" or shorter. So yes Peter Dinklage is a dwarf by medical standards.

Dwarfism is a classification resulting from over 200 conditions. So theres no limit.

This post kills me because he is such a great human being. Actors like Seth Green who is untterly untalented make me always think of his height. While Peter I never focus on it I only see the acting and pure talent.
Peter has an obviously very fulfilling life and I'm quite sure he knows his height is irrelevant to anything that truly matters.

an adult under 4'10" is considered a dwarf!
Dwarfism is the result of 300 conditions (causing parts of the body to be out of proportion), there is now a trend to label all people under a certain height even tho they dont have the out of proportion body parts or the condition.
I know of dwarfs that are over 4'10. So its incorrectly claiming short people are dwarfs at this made up height.

Danny DeVito has a genetic disorder called multiple1908 epiphyseal dysplasia, AKA Fairbanks disease, which affects bone growth and generally results in short limbs. However, it is considered a skeletal disorder and not a form of dwarfism. Robert Reich, former U.S. Secretary of Labor, has the same condition and stands 4'11".
As far as Dinklage being tall, he's about average for a man with achondroplasia, but heights can vary widely. I work with a guy who has achondroplasia and he's probably about 4'7" or so, at a guess.
The further a society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those that speak it.

There is no way he DOESN'T have achondroplastic features; he just hides it well (his promiment brow) with his thick bob of hair and beard that covers his square chin. Watch Little Women LA sometime (on MUTE, naturally) to gander which one of the five ladies DOESN'T have it. It's quite easy to spot.

I don't see achondroplastic features in Peter's face. His almost-lookalike, Jordan Prentice (In Bruges) does have the prominent brow and is a good deal smaller.

What is "dwarf face?" I saw it mentioned in another thread. Peter doesn't seem to have anything unusual about his face. I don't understand what is meant by this term.

The "dwarf face" is due to his condition called achondroplasia. It's not the only cause of short stature, neither is it the only form of dwarfism. DeVito doesn't suffer from dwarfism, he is just grown short.

but I have to bring up Danny Devito then because he's 5'0"
DeVito doesn't have the dwarf face though. If you saw him sitting down, you wouldn't notice how short he is.

Actually, your question made me wonder so I looked it up - apparently, an adult under 4'10" is considered a dwarf! Interresting. I know this is a Dinklage board but I have to bring up Danny Devito then because he's 5'0" so I guess he's not a dwarf like I always thought.
