Hey this is kinda a weird question but is there a reason that she and her mother's names are so similar?

I would daresay that this girl is named for her grandmother, Clint Eastwood's mother..(off Clint's page) 2/7/06: His mother,
Francesca Ruth
Eastwood, died at age 97

It's just two variants of the same name, Kurgan, only Frances is more "pristinely" English, while Francesca (which is of course Italian in origin) is something of a "posh" variant of the same name. (I like both names very much.)
And both names, of course, originally meant "the French".

But that's just it, she's not named after her mother, she's got an extremely
close
name, which does seem a little odd (not bad, just a bit odd). It's a legit question, not a "guy thing," and not quite the same as a de facto "junior" appellation.
Things have changed in recent years, but "back in the day" women would often leapfrog the names over a couple of generations, reusing the same names over and over. The great-grandmother might be named Mary, the grandmother Sarah, the mother Jane, the daughter Mary again, and so on. Used to be quite common. It was also very common in some regions to move the maiden name into the middle name place upon getting married, and/or give a daughter your maiden name as her middle name. I always found that to be a little odd, since it didn't "save" the family name for more than a generation or two, thus seeming a bit fruitless. Nice sentiment, though.

I would have to guess uhm.because she is named after her mother?
Figures a guy would think this is odd, sons are named for the fathers all the time.sigh
