Anyone ever see the "Man with Two Brains" w/Steve Martin? Remember he was looking for a body and found that hooker who was totally hot and then she started talking and it drove him nuts? Kinda the same thing here.

I think her gravelly voice is
totally consistent
with the hard-edged, world-weary, slightly-jaded characters she plays on 'Rescue Me' and 'Numbers' and obviously the professional casting directors do too. Then again, I am macroscopic, insightful, soulful, and appreciative of every being's unique gifts. ;')
I've never seen her many other works, and I'm sure her unique timbre excludes her from many types of roles, e.g. Southern belles, Victorian prisses, etc., but luckily there's lots of roles for kick-ass firefighters and cop types.
Seems she'd be an apt co-star for the upcoming series 'In Plain Sight'.

she has the worst voice i have ever heard, i thought maybe it was just her character on rescue me but if she is doing it on other shows it must be her voice in real life. yikes.

I completely agree. For a long time whenever we watched Numb3rs, my family would comment on how annoying her voice is. I don't know if we have just gotten used to it now, or if she really has toned it5b4 down some, but I don't notice it as much anymore.

Exactly! When I watch her I feel like I'm waiting for a ventriloquist to slip up and show some sign that the voice is actually coming from her mouth. Kind of a weird trait for someone who chose acting as a career.

It's not so much the nasal thing that gets me, but it's as if she drags all of her words together when she speaks. I'm a transcriptionist, and I always tell my husband that I'd hate to try and transcribe for her! He gets annoyed every timb68e I say it, and I get annoyed every time I hear her! LOL> I am just SO glad that I am not the only one who finds this irritating.

That's what my husband says too. It almost kept him from watching the show but we think somebody got her voice lessons because it seems like she has brought her nasality down at least a pitch
