When the supremely entertaining Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation hit theaters this summer, people walked away talking about one aspect of the movie in particular: Rebecca Ferguson. Indeed, the actress pretty much stole the entire film from movie star Tom Cruise, and she rightfully became highly in demand in the movies wake. While she was courted for Foxs X-Men spinoff Gambit, she instead chose the female-driven bestseller adaptation The Girl on the Train for her follow-up film. But now its time to fill her 2016 schedule, and the suitors are a-comin.
Per Deadline, Ferguson is in talks to star opposite Michael Fassbender in the long-developing Jo Nesb adaptation The Snowman. Initially developed as a directing vehicle for Martin Scorsese, the film now has Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy helmer Tomas Alfredson in the directors chair and revolves around a detective investigating the disappearance of a young boys mother. During the course of the investigation, he comes to believe hes tracking Norways first serial killer. Scorsese is executive producing the project, with Working Titles Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner producing.
Fergusons involvement isnt a sure-thing just yet, but both sides are apparently keen on closing the deal soon in order to firm up a January start-date and solidify this as Fassbenders next movie following Assassins Creed.
But with regards to Ferguson, her in-demand status doesnt end there. The report notes that shes also eyeing the starring role in Guernsey (aka The Guernsey Literary Society and Potato Peel Pie Society), which has Mike Newell attached 1354to direct and a title that I desperately hope remains unchanged. That project is still in early stages, but Ferguson is reportedly eager to work with Newell.
And perhaps most intriguing, Ferguson is also being eyed for a role in Ridley Scotts next project, the Prometheus sequel Alien: Paradise Lost. Apparently the latest draft of the script was just delivered, and its very strong with a peach of a major female. Fox was eager to nab Ferguson for Gambit, and theyre apparently hoping to land her for the Prometheus follow-up (which would reunite her with Fassbender for back-to-back projects), though no talks have taken place just yet. So whats the role? Scott recently revealed that in addition to Fassbender and Noomi Rapaces characters, Paradise Lost includes a new group of travelers, so perhaps thats where this new female character fits in. Or maybe shes an Engineer, which would certainly be an interesting fit.
So, as you can see, Ferguson is desired for quite a few exciting projects, and I imagine theres more to come. Will she do all (or any) of them? Its unclear at the moment, but given the immense talent she displayed in Rogue Nation, shes certainly deserving of such a high profile. More Rebecca Ferguson in movie theaters is a very good thing.

I would have preferred to see her do this instead of girl on the train which looks like a bad lifetime movie.
