I grant you that, but that's mainly because she never had to try to be sexy; it was just something in her. And besides her looks, she was just plain charming and funny and self-depreciating and FUN.
Britney was a lot of fun at first, but then she seemed to be more into image than personality. Her physical attractiveness was (and is) undeniable, but she never seemed to be as carefree or as relaxed as Sam, and that's a large part of attractiveness in anyone.

99% of all the people who ever heard about her? Love her (which I do) or hate her (which I can't imagine too many people doing) I strongly doubt anyone's really forgotten her; one simply doesn't forget someone like her.

Funny thing is, she never did quite shed that image, even after shedding her clothes for a certain photo shoot. Fact is, she really is a good girl, and more power to her for that. Too few of them about these days.

Not so far as I can see. If a girl (or a male, for that matter) is going to overdo the sex angle, it either means that she's having a joke (like Samantha always did, or on the male side, Adam Ant) or it means that she (or he) hasn't got enough confidence in her (or his) sexuality in the first place.
As an example, and while we're talking about the 80's, Madonna WAY overdid the sexy image and as a result lost any real sexual appeal for a lot of people. Martha Davis (lead singer of the Motels), on the other hand, simply WAS sexy without ever bumping & grinding or wearing a5b4ny revealing clothing.
