Most people don't realize though that Ace and Peter were never around to help the band, did little in the recording studio (usually replaced by other drummers and guitarists) and were both squanderers with money and were both major drug users. They were wise to LEAVE? Bull, they were forced out. Wisely I might add. I don't have anything against them- I love Ace and Peter both. Those days are all in the past, but still- they were leading reckless and destructive lives. They never payed attention in meetings with the band, were always complaining, and threatening to leave if they didn't get their way. So please- stop making out like they were perfect saints- because Paul and Gene kept the band together. Their goal was to make money and get girls- and they've done a pretty damn good job with it. If you have a problem with them, tough beep many people still love them. They have expanded into a cooperation, and many are mad at that. But if you had a chance to make a few more million dollars, wouldn't you take it? Honestly, save your breath and realize they need not to prove themselves any further. They have made a success out of a band for more than thirty years, sell more lines of products than Dyllar has had face lifts, and are still a top band. Before you go listening to two guys who were hardly even a part of the band- listen to the truth of the matter- the two founders who actually DID make the band. And please take note in remembering the fact that Gene and Paul did all that they could to keep Criss and Frehley in the band, but they were musicians, not miracle workers.

Seriously.hoagieMike is right on. Gene and Paul are greedy. They have disgraced the KISS name. They were embarassing to see in concert because they turned into posers. Paul talked too beep much between songs and Ge2000ne is just soooo arrogant he wrecks it for everybody. They had not been good the last 15 years. I saw them the first time in the 70's when I was a very little girl. I stood behind them during the years that everybody said they sucked. I threw my bra on stage and it got tangled in Gene's fingers during "Young & Wasted" (it's on a concert video they recorded in Detroit in the late 80's) I loved those guys for more years than some people on this board have been alive..They set the soundtrack for most of my life.And without a doubt Gene and Paul have ruined it for me forever. The 70's KISS will always be the best, and Ace and Peter are the two members who had the integrity to walk away from it instead of making themselves look like greedy, lame, poser idiots.
Oh, yeah, and I kissed ACE at a bar in Detroit called The Ritz when Frehley's Comet was playing there. He was playing pool. I said hi. We talked. He said "Do you want a Kiss"? Ummmmm..HELL YES!!It was so. beep cool.

Seems like everyboard I go on there is a stupid fight for some reason. Lighten up. The orignal band WERE the band. You can't replace originals. I still love the band with all my heart but it just wont beat the original lineup. I have nothing against Thayer or Singer at all, and think they are great and very wise persons. Ace and Peter were the originals though, and they could never truly be replaced. I do not agree with what Simmons and Stanley did to Criss, and I believe Frehley is just doing what he said- Solo work. I mean really, some of you need to lighten up.

jesus people, lighten up on Gene and Paul! YOu are forgetting a VERY important detail. You go on and on about how without Ace and Peter there would be no KISS thinking you made an intelligent statement. Well guess what? Paul and Gene were the ones who started the band. Without THEM, there would no KISS.

i see the status of kiss as existing and not touring. at least not in 2005. eric singer is with alice co111coper touring. tommy thayer ? gene simmons has rock school. and paul is still working on his solo record. they're all busy. at least gene and paul and eric are. tommy wearing aces costume isnt right. in 2003 i thought his guitar playing sucked. in 2004 however, i saw them live again, and thought tommy got a hell of a lot better. i say make tommy the racoon. if they want bruce kulick, make him the dog. bob kulick: the 8 ball. eric singer: the hawk . mark st. john: the owl.

With all that said, what is the status of Kiss? Are they gonna tour anymore? Make any new records?
My main beef, as I stated before is Tommy wearing Aces costume. It't ain't right.

im gonna make this all clear. Ace aint touring w/ KISS b/c he is pursuing plans to release a solo album, that he planned on recroding after what he thought would be THE farewell tour. in 2003, he didnt wanna open for aerosmith, a band who was opening for them about 30 years ago. i love both bands, but i dont think KISS shouldve had to take a backseat. thats when tommy had to step in. gene said ace didnt wanna do it in 2004 and ace said go ahead and do it w/ tommy. i have no problem w/ that. but he did say that if a time came where he wasnt recording a solo record or doing anything, he would go and play w/ paul and gene again, no problems. peter however is another long story. i dont like the idea of tommy putting on ace's makeup and boots and outfit, b/c peter criss is right, the former cook and tour manager is in an icons shoes , and he hasnt paid anywhere near the dues peter criss and ace frehley have. i think he should get his own identity. i am glad that ace is friends w/ tommy. i know peter liked eric carr and he likes eric singer, but he is bitter about tommy wearing aces makeup, and eric singer using his makeup and catman identity.

Well you can thank Eric next time you see him, Cause he was the reason that this aaallll started back in 95'!! "Let's have Peter come on stage and sing acouple of songs!" That's all it took to ruin 4 to 5 years of your life. (Not to mention threw his career in the dirt). Ask Eric why he refused to talk to the press about the "COMEBACK of KISS!!"

thats what KISS line up is and they still call them selves KISS basically its Gene and Paul band they keep replacin line ups hope they wont do anymore replacements

If they want a New Kiss, Then let the Space Ace & Catman Persona rest with Ace & Peter, Come up with new designs & songs. And Quit rehash'n the old ones. And gonbaoji has got it right! You want to trash Ace & Peter, Do it on Gene or Pauls' Board. They can use the support.

Don't get me wrong, I love Kiss, and it would be fantastic if they came to the UK again, but I think the Reunion should have been Kiss' farewell to the world. They would have gone out in style, and then move on to various solo projects. Kiss are a sorry sight now - shameless imitators of Peter and Ace, Gene's doing magazines, books, and goddamn cartoons, and Paul's trying to hold everything together(as usual). Also, Gene and Paul aren't getting any younger. It is a sad end for one of THE classic rock bands.
