Yes, Christopher George was certainly one of the all-time best actors, and his friendly, easy-going personna also adds a lot to his screen presence.
Haven't seen "Rat Patrol," but anything else I've seen him on really shines because of his strong and professional performances.
Also yes, such a shame that Christopher passed at a young age like that, creating one of Hollywood's greatest tragedies, to be sure.
Not sure whatever happened to Lynda Day George except what is says on her IMDb Biography page about her retiring from acting, and remarrying, and relocating away from Hollywood. Wish her the best also because she was also good in many roles.

What a hilarious duo they must have been.. They always seemed to have a grand old time working on all those T.V. episodes and 80's cult-horror movies.. As for whether Christopher was gay, he could sure play gay in a movie.. I remember in CITY OF THE WALKING DEAD when he basically hits on that policeman early in the film it turned MY crank.. I always loved El Dorado as a kid and George is the best thing about it. Too bad he didn't get a straight-up showdown with the Duke.

I enjoyed Christopher's roles in The Exterminator, City of the Living Dead, etc.If he was alive today I think he'd probably be making movies with someone like Tarantino or Eli Roth.

Christopher George was (and Lynda Day George is) very friendly and wholesome and refreshing to watch in their programs together and individually.
Christopher carried that bright shining appeal into his appearances, which shows that he was kind, caring and considerate of his audience and those around him. He was very talented with a wide acting range, but his good guy characters are what we remember him for mostly, a true hero. My sympathy to all for our great loss.

Another 80's B film I liked him in was THE EXTERMINATOR.

They were very happily married at the time of his death and even though Ms. Day George has since remarried, the correct reference should be, "I wonder what his widow, actress LDG, does today."
Death makes a wife a widow; divorce makes her an "ex."

His early death was a great shame.
I've just discovered Christopher was offered a role in Airple/Flying High but declined as he didn't like the humour of the film-makers earlier Kentucky Fried Movie. What a pity - he would have been great in it.

I always enjoy watching Christopher George in such entertainingly junky B-pics as "Grizzly," "Dixie Dynamite," "Day of the Animals," "The Exterminator," "Graduation Day," "The Gates of Hell," and "Pieces." He's a lot of rough'n'rugged hyper-aggressive macho fun in those movies. It's such a shame he died so young of a sudden heart attack. Rest in peace, Mr. George.

I was just looking around and read this.
I may have heard somewhere that he passed away but I don't think so.
I don't remember that.
Anyway its news to me then.
What a shame he died so early on in life.
I remember two programs from the sixties that I enjoyed quite a bit.
Rat Patrol was one and the other was 12 O'Clock High with Robert Lansing.
I'm not a greatest fan of war movies but these two shows provided some good saturday or friday nite entertainment.
I've seen a few movies in my time but it wasn't until I got out a movie called

This movie starred Nancy Kwan , Robert Walker , Woody Strode and of course Christopher George.
As soon as I saw him I remembered seeing him in a few films and even though I didn't straight away link him with Rat Patrol , I always remembered him as a great actor and enjoyed the films he appeared in.

We sure lost a lot of our heroes at that time. The sad thing tha I read was that Christopher George, like Clark Gable, was in the hospital and had checked out to go to dinner with his wife and had just returned to the hospital when the fatal attack hit him. Rest in peace.

Everytime I watch El Dorado I always get this feeling in my head: Nelse McCloud or Cole Thornton?? lol

Christopher George was great in those John Wayne films, he was only in Chisum for about twenty minutes, but gave one hell of a performance as the bounty hunter who tries to capture Billy the Kid. I remember when I saw Christopher George in Grizzly, the bear was so terrifying that the audience in the theater cheered when he blew the bear up with a bazooka. I think that some of George's more obscure efforts in his later years such as "Pieces" and "Mortuary", both co-starring his wife Lynda was rather wasted on him, but he always did a fine job at bringing tough guys into films. I think I am going to try and get a response from Bill Paxton, who played Christopher George's son in "Mortuary" and maybe he can tell me (and George's fans) what it was like working with him and his wife.

I got to say that I remember Rat Patrol back in the 1960s and I thought it was
one of the dumbest war series ever done. Combat and The Gallant Men had it over
Rat Patrol in every way.
Saying that however, Christopher George was a terrific performer and the fact
that he had a career after Rat Patrol says a lot. He was so much better in the
Immortal, a short of pre-cursor to Highlander.
But of course I remember him best in those John Wayne films. AS Nelse McCloud
and Dirty Dan Nodeen he really brought some zest to those parts.

Yes I totally agree with you he was a good actor , its a shame thinking back now he has been gone almost 21 years. Then again we lose actors that mean alot to us as followers , another one was Warren Oates 7eche made his mark too and bang the big one and he goes and last of all David Janssen another surprise entry of heart attacks and then still pushing out decent roles . Crystal ball time , go back to 1980 - 1982 - 1983 and change what happened to these talented charactor actors. Actually go back to 1967 on the set of the Rat Patrol and have the jeep not flip over and possibly you might have Chris with us today at a ripe young age of 75. Lynda's retired living in California with her 3rd husband of almost 20 yrs.
