Haggerty gets mentioned for everything from helping to build to completely designing & building both bikes on many websites, but the Easy Rider Trivia section gives all the credit to bike builder, Ben Hardy, whos also credited with designing & building the bike Fonda road in The Wild Angels with Bruce Dern and Nancy Sinatra.
Also, Dennis Hopper is interviewed in the documentary "History of the Chopper" and confirms that it was Ben Hardy who built the bikes.
Now, there were four ex-cop bikes used in the film, all chopped. Maybe Dan did the other two.
One things for certain, though, no one will ever be able to check the bikes for signatures cause one burned up and the other three were stolen before filming was finished.

From what I heard Haggerty took control of the bike used in the final scenes. He kept it up and running until he sold it.

Does anyone know how many replica bikes California Motorcycle Company actually built of the chopper?
