A Patch of Blue is a sweet, gentle movie and Poitier and Hartman are superb. I have just watched it again after a long break, and the film holds up well after all these years. I am sad to learn that Elizabeth Hartman died so tragically. Wallace Ford is also terrific as Selina's Granpa. He had a good role opposite Paul Robeson in the British movie JERICHO in 1937 which makes him one of the few actors to have appeared in films with Paul Robeson and Sidney Poitier. The only other one I can find is Clarence Muse in Tales of Manhattan (with Robeson in '42) and Porgy and Bess (with Poitier in '59).
