I remember him. He was gorgeous. Thanks for the heads up. I remember the incident and I remember initially thinking people do not know blanks can hurt you. And they should tell people who work in the industry that. But later on I heard what you had just reminded me about. I never thought the guy was some idiot that would play around with blanks if he knew they were dangerous. I bet his parents got a lot of money because it looks like it was settled out of court. 2000I think he probably had a big career ahead of hm. But even though his death was a tragedy something good came out of it. New prop laws.

You are correct. CBS/Fox had a weapons master on set that day and sent him home early due to budget cuts. It was an uneducated prop man that gave Jon-Erik the gun that day. And he didn't lock the gun up after the scene was shot, as was the rule. Leaving a loaded prop gun sitting around like that is an EGREGIOUS no-no in the industry. Jon-Erik's family sued, and won, an undisclosed amount from the studio because of it. And stricter prop gun laws were enacted after he died. Still didn't protect Brandon Lee though.

I just remember hearing that gun should not have those blanks in them. So long ago , something that was not completely his fault.

No disrespect, but this subject has been talked to death. Read previous posts. There was a LOT more to the story than appears on the surface.
