I just saw the Bob Newhart show where both families got together for Thanksgiving..1974 I think..
Barnard Hughes stole the show and I was reminded all over again how wonderful he was.the way he delivered a line and his timing.wow.crisp and funny and wise..
What a fabulous character actor he was..and simply adorable..
Rest In Peace Sir.

Darn,I have never seen that episode you posted about hope to one day, sounds like a really great one,and yes Mr Hughes was Great as well!
