Carrie Ann is beautiful. Fine, but not a qualification to judge Ballroom Dancers (Although maybe it is for a TV show). She IS a dancer. Fine. She has done many different types of dancing, which is good, and so she has a well rounded knowledge of dancing in general. But she has NO experience as a Ballroom Dancer. She has done a lot of choreography for a number of TV shows. So the networks know who she is, and that is a huge plus for her to be a judge on the show. But this is supposed to be a "BALLROOM DANCING SHOW". Yes, she can judge dancing in general. But Len is the only judge who is a Master Ballroom Instructor, plus has been a judge on the UK program for years prior to the U.S. I really couldn't find out that much about Bruno to know if he knows Ballroom dance.
Len Goodman is the judge that ALL THE PROFESSIONAL DANCERS look to as the most important critic, because he is the one that has the most knowledge. And I think that he often gets annoyed with his fellow judges, because they criticize his comments and critiques.
Carrie Ann does critique dancing issues. But she seems to base a lot of her comments and scores on her emotional reaction to a dance. Bruno also seems very emotional, and it affects his scoring.
Just for example: Derek and Lil' Kim did a dance that was supposed to be a Jive. It was NOT. It was a great performance, and fun and they did it very well. But even Derek said to Samantha that he knew it wasn't really a jive, but he "had to go with it". Len was the only one that really criticized the dance because it was NOT a JIVE. And he was booed. But a good judge would never have let Derek get away with that switch-a-roo. The couples are given a dance that is a real Ballroom dance and the pros have to choreograph for it, and teach their 'star' partner how to do it. That is the deal. But because the number was hot, and fun, Carrie Ann and Bruno, just went with the emotion of it, and gave 10s when they should not have. Derek's dance, actually, should have been disqualified. It was NOT a Jive. Len was the only responsible Judge on that night.
I would like to know why Len Goodman is the only judge on this kind of show who is a Master Ballroom Dancer, teacher, and judge. Carrie Ann can judge a different kind of dancing show, and she has those qualifications. Why is she judging a Ballroom contest, when she has no Ballroom dancing experience???

I don't think that electing Obama President of the U.S. has thing one to do with DWTS. Plus, for all our problems, I don't think that the U.S. is a "dumb country". All countries have their issues, including the UK. BUT, when it comes to Ballroom Dancing, and Ballroom competitions, Great Britain, is the heart and soul of it all. They are THE best at the competitions. They have many of the best teachers. Why did the Hough's send their two talented children to live in the UK with the Ballas' for many of their growing up years? So they could learn from the best. The love of Ballroom Dancing has spread around the world. The U.S. has some very fine dancers and competitions. That is one of the reasons that I think it is a shame that the judges on DWTS don't include more than one judge who is a Ballroom expert.
