does it matter? after all, he is an actor!

I had the pleasure and I do mean pleasure of serving David Jason in a resteraunt i worked in 25 years ago and he was the most pleasant and freindly man i,d met we even joked about getting "your dangler caught" (a reference to an open all hours episode).
I conceed that he wasn,t as instantly recognisable as he is now since no one else in the restaraunt recognised him even though he had been on our screens for over 15 years by then. he had just started doing only fools and horses, he did not mind being recognised then. I expect the amount of public recognision has changed him,I am sure that he would give anything to be able to walk into a restaraunt without being swamped with attention by well meaning folk.
The saddest thing i believe is that his best performances were in comedy and they,ve ended he seems only to do seriouse stuff now like frost and people now think of him as being as miserable as frost. I know that when my cousin auditioned for him for A Touch Of Frost she wasn,t taken by him i didn,t perue the matter i wish i had. I hope he hasn,t changed I want to remember him the way he was in May 1982, as a perfect gentleman.

I have worked as an extra on Diamond Geezer 2 as a russian security guard and I was in a scene with Sir David Jason. He was extremely professional and he asked me if I thought it was going to snow????. He was friendly making chit chat with most people on set in Leeds. I think your friends cousin may have just seen him on a bad day but through personal expirence I cannot fault the legend that is Sir David Jason.

If this person is telling the truth, fair enough I can't judge that.
However, what I do know is that my Dad met him when he was at the height of his fame whilst in the process of working on the same cartoon as him (Count Duckula, 20 years ago) and found him to be very hospitable and approachable. My Dad said he had 2 minders with him at the time, but still honoured a request to meet my sister, and nothing seemed like too much trouble.

My mum sat next to him on a plane several years ago and she said that he was very pleasant and friendly that says a lot about him in my opinion because none of you know my mum, whom I love dearly, but who would be my last choice as a companion in a confined space for a long period of time!

i think david jason is a national icon and a brilliant actor ,who said his acting is wooden ? please, you obviously know nothing about acting so what if he said no to someone asking for his picture ,you should try saying "hi, how are you " to lyndsey lohan .

To martinrw.How sad must you be to let someone ruin your holiday because they refused to let you have a picture? It would have been worse if people kept pestering you for a photo while on holiday as DJ probably was.
