Rey wasn't one dimensional. It was obvious she's full of self loathing and anger over her abandonment.
Jyn's depth was conveyed in her nonverbal moments. Like when she meets Saw as an adult and the camera focuses on her Felicity conveys just how much pain Jyn is in and how lonely and meaningless her life is. And when the group is about to sneak away from Yavin 4 and they have a pep talk, you can see that Jyn has finally found a purpose.
Jyn and Rey are similar at their core. Thb68ey're both tortured and lonely on the inside.

Daisy was great in The Force Awakens, but dont forget that Felicity has been an actress for a lot longer than Daisy. I think its normal that Felicity gave the best performance.
