Good question because Miss Joyce is very vivacious, youthful and talented in all of those roles which showcase her beauty, livliness and versatile abilities.
Elaine has obviously been through a lot with all of those family tragedies to contend with, while brinb68ging up her two sons, and assisting Neil on Broadway.
But maybe that's just it: maybe Neil enjoys settling down with Elaine, and taking a bit of quality time to reflect upon his illustrious career, as well as hers, so let's just hope that they are healthy and content and busy with other things than entertaining everybody all the rest of the time.

So many of the scripts during that decade were crap. The people in control of the money had their heads up their cash registers.

She reminds me a lot of Goldie Hawn, maybe directors weren't interested in another Goldie?

Good question. I saw her on reruns in recent years, mostly comedies but some dramas. Then she is famous for musicals, too. Elaine Joyce could do it all.
Usually on television, it seems she is cast into supporting roles or some kind of co-starring with other beautiful actress characters but not as the one who ends up with the guy even though that is hard to figure why.
Maybe she was too busy to take on leading lady roles but added a lot of life, perkiness and character with her supporting actress roles.
Anyway, she is really good in everything and ought to have been the star focus, which is one of Hollywood's many mistakes for not understanding Miss Joyce's star potential.
