wow I'm surprised Grace Kelly wasn't nominated. Why was she ignored? because she did not have alot of screen time? She stole the whole film. She did not get nominated for an Oscar, but she got nominated for 2 golden globed, winning one which was Best Supporting Actress. At least the HFPA got it right.

According to the book "Inside Oscar," the producer of "High Noon," Stanley Kramer, accidentally listed the entire cast as leading actors (in those days, the studios and producers were responsible for deciding what category an actor belonged in.) It would have been a stretch to consider Helen Ramirez a starring role, so Jurado was ignored. Even at the time, people were shocked she wasn't nominated. Considering how popular "High Noon" was, she probably would have won.
