Obviously a movie that should never have a sequel, which makes it all the more tempting for Kaufman (I bet.)

I'd surprised at the reaction to this thread. I can totally see him parodying sequels sooner or later, once he's explored every other area of the film industry.
Then speak of the devil and the devil appears.

Kaufman probably wouldn't want to write one, but I'll bet his brother would take a shot at it.

His stage play, Hope Leaves the Theatre, involves his character Charlie Kaufman commiting suicide. Could be read as a spin-off or sequel.

Charlie Kaufman does the unexpected, and he challenges himself. A sequel seems totally implausible, which is precisely why he would ever consider doing one. I don't think he would, actually. But I get 5b4what you're saying.

My 1 sentence description of Synecdoche for my friend was that it takes the recursion of adaptation to its logical conclusion.
A black pool opened up at my feet. I dived in. It had no bottom.

Well, they're both about writers who write themselves into their work.
Synechdoche does it on a grander, more self-obsessive scale, but I do feel that Malkovich begat Adaptation begat Synechdoche. Even though they aren't direct sequels involving the same characters, there are themes in play which carry over and expand upon the previous entries.

Charlie: I mean, how could you have somebody held prisoner in a basement and working in a police station at the same time?
Donald: Trick photography.
Charlie: Okay, that's not what I'm asking.

I agree, a sequel to this movie would be terrible. However, maybe, he should take an idea out of "Adaptation" and write it to screen, because I'm sure the film "The 3" would be excellent :P.

You're getting Charlie Kaufman confused with another writer. Charlie Kaufman is an original and fantastic writer. That means a sequel to Adaptation isn't even tempting for him. How could there be a sequel to that movie? The movie is a statement more than a story.
the ellipsis was a stupid idea
