His roles in ETD and Black Belt Jones were great, he's an awesome martial artist, he's funny. I just don't get why Jim Kelly didn't go on to be huge.

It took him too long to do a Hong Kong movie. Had The Tattoo Connection being filmed during the Kung Fu movie boom, he would have got more attention.

Not alot of room for black actors in those days, and he wasn't the best actor in the world.

True, his acting wasn't goodsounded like he was reading from the script. Still he had strong screen presence and excellent martial arts skills. I always thought that if he was in movies where his dialogue was kept to a minimum, and they focused more on him doing action sequences, he could have possibly been more popular.

He said in interviews on Youtube that the reason why he doesn
t do much roles is because the roles he is offered aren
t good. He said they were lousy and weak characters. He also says he will do a film if the script and character is good.
